Scientific research & experimental development :

Welcome to board our fascinating video showing the prototype of a train simulator designed by our R&D team at the end of 2018, in collaboration with the SNCFT Training Service. At the start of this project, we were faced with a variety of exciting challenges, such as authentically reproducing trails and landscapes, as well as creating a user-friendly, easy-to-use experience, and all at a minimal cost.

To recreate the reliefs with remarkable fidelity, we integrated the Google Earth API, then added a layer of detail, including buildings and vegetation, with a dedicated 3D modeler. For the train itself we have acquired the 3D model of the alstom train cabin that we have adapted to the need of the project. We used the Leap Motion Controller to capture the movements of fingers and hands. Full immersion was made possible thanks to the use of a virtual reality headset, giving the user the genuine feeling of being in the control cabin.

The simulator has been refined using an Arduino electronic card and controls to simulate manual acceleration and braking, thus providing a realistic and interactive driving experience.
